We hold to the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) of the Southern Baptist Convention.
We are a Southern Baptist church that supports and cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention; the North Carolina Baptist State Convention; and the Neuse Baptist Convention.
We affirm the essential doctrines of the Christian faith such as:
God is One but exists in three persons-God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
God is the creator, ruler, sustainer, and overseer of the world.
Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah of the Old Testament and is the Son of God, Lord of lords, and God himself.
Jesus Christ provides atonement for those who would believe in Him for salvation through his shed bled on the cross and his resurrection from the grave.
Salvation is found only in Jesus Christ and is received by repentance of sins and by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Regeneration, or being born again, is the work of the Holy Spirit that brings about saving faith.
All true believers must and will persevere to the end and be saved because of God's grace.
The Holy Spirit dwells in all believers so that they are enabled to understand God's Holy Word; assured of God's love for them; and enabled to grow in holiness of mind and heart.
The church consists of believers who have been baptized and are committed to the welfare of other believers and to the proclamation of the gospel.
God has ordained the church as His main instrument of witness to His glory through merciful works and gracious proclamation of the gospel.
Jesus Christ will be sent one day back to the earth to manifest His glory and rule over all nations. Vindication or condemnation for each person as determined by God the Father through the Son will be made known through the assignment of either heaven or hell.
Having, as we trust, been brought by divine grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to him, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with each other.
We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We will walk together in brotherly love, as becomes the members of a Christian Church, exercise an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other and faithfully admonish and entreat one another as occasion may require.
We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray for ourselves and others.
We will endeavor to bring up such as may at any time be under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends.
We will rejoice at each others’ happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows.
We will seek, by Divine aid, to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and remembering that, as we have been voluntarily buried by baptism and raised again from the symbolic grave, so there is on us a special obligation now to lead a new and holy life.
We will work together for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry in this church, as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.
We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
As a member of Immanuel Baptist, it is my expressed desire and joy to seek the fulfillment of this church covenant as I have opportunity and as God extends his grace.
